America's Music Special Event

PastThursday, October 10, 2013 - Starts at 07:00 PM

James Higdon, author of The Cornbread Mafia, will discuss the lively history of Club 68 & Club Cherry in Marion County, Kentucky. These music venues, local stops on the Chitlin' Circuit, featured performers like Ike & Tina, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, and Jerry Lee Lewis in the 1950s and '60s, and were rare in that they allowed white audiences in the segregated South the opportunity to hear black musicians.
