Understanding Terrorism Short Course

PastTuesday, September 04, 2018 - 06:30 PM - 08:00 PM

Terrorism and hate are not limited to psychopaths. Rather, we are all susceptible. We tend to think that our “common sense” will protect us from involvement in these extremely damaging problems. However, science tells us otherwise, and with a better understanding of ourselves and our societies we can move past these self-inflicted wounds. This six part series will examine how our brains react to threats (real or perceived), why threats have nothing to do with supposed biological race or supposed biological sex differences and much to do with socially created race and gender, and why some people campaign against perceived threats in ineffective ways. Overall, this series is not about the history of specific acts of terrorism and hate, but rather an attempt to understand the circumstances under which each exists and what can be done by the average person to reduce their impact on all our lives. Presented by the Salaam Network. This is a free program but registration is required. Please call 502-574-1623
