Kentucky Opera Series: Rigoletto

PastWednesday, February 06, 2019 - 06:30 PM - 08:00 PM

Originally banned by the censors, Rigoletto is Verdi's incomparably great characterization, Shakespearean in its complexity and grandeur. Despite the moral corruption, the masterwork continues to rivet audiences with its incendiary drama and outpouring of famous melodies. Join stage director Kathleen Belcher and conductor Roberto Kalb as they shed light on the continued relevance of the opera, and how to approach the misogyny, discrimination and accountability in producing the opera for the audience of today. The Kentucky Opera Series is a partnership between Kentucky Opera and the Louisville Free Public Library. The class is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. Call (502) 574-1644 to reserve your spot.
