Sponsored by the Library Foundation, the Job Shop offers free employment and career resources, free computer classes to improve job skills, books and other reference materials to help with writing resumes, interviewing and choosing a new career, free internet access, computers and space to work, as well as helpful, knowledgeable staff.
Among the highlights of the Job Shop:
-hundreds of up-to-date books on career options, company information, interview skills, resume writing, test preparation, and other job and career search topics
-computers just for job seekers with access to research databases, resume templates, and internet job search sites
-trained staff to help with online job searches and other job information
-computer classes and online tutorials
-free Wi-Fi internet access
-access to fax machine and copier
Can’t make it to the Main Library? Job Shop online, www.lfpl.org/jobshop, offers job and career information like “Teach Yourself” computer classes, career databases, a job news blog, and resume writing help 24 hours a day.

The Job Shop remains closed during flood recovery. However, you can still use the links to the right to help you find information on resumes, cover letters, salary information and job listings. Also, all branch locations are open. They offer Internet for job searching, Microsoft Office to create resumes and they are able to circulate materials. The staff at these locations would be happy to assist you with all your job searching needs.

We wanted to tell you about our new Monday Night Series for Job Seekers. Every Monday night from 6-7 in the Job Shop, we will have a speaker from a local business or organization come in and talk to us on such topics as how to get hired, writing great resumes, and how to interview. Our first workshop will be this coming Monday, July 20th, and is titled Effective Resume Construction. It will run from 6-7 in the Job Shop meeting room. Also, there have been a couple of interesting articles this past week for job seekers. CNN had an article about how people who are getting laid off are finding new careers that they always wanted to try and having great success. If you've been considering a new career check out last weeks post on Career Exploration. And a little closer to home, Business First had an article Friday about Sykes Enterprises bringing 500 jobs to Bardstown.

Welcome to the LFPL online Job Shop! The Job Shop brings LFPL’s employment and career resources, and the assistance of LFPL staff, into a single service to provide easier access to job information. Here you will find job and career internet links, self-guided lessons on computer skills and other topics, career databases, class and workshop schedules, a job news blog and more.
Whether you are writing a resume, making a career shift or ready to learn a new computer skill, you will find materials to assist you. If you need to talk with a librarian, stop by the Job Shop at the Main Library between 11 – 7, Monday through Thursday and 2 – 5, Friday and Saturday.
We are located on the second floor near the 301 York Street entrance. The Job Shop provides computers, a fax machine and printer, space to work and more.
