Literacy Connection Backpacks

Reading, Learning, Fun!

Preschool-age children and their parents or caregivers can use a library card to check out special backpacks full of books and fun reading and learning activities. They can be checked out at the Main Library or requested from any branch library location.

These backpacks are tailored especially for three different age groups: birth – age 2, ages 2 – 3, and ages 3 – 5.  For each age group there will be two backpacks: one for parents and children and one for childcare providers.  Each backpack includes different kinds of books for young readers, including board books for very young children, and picture books for older kids.  Learning activities are based on the themes covered by the books.  Backpacks also include teacher resource books for childcare providers who can receive up to five training credit hours for using the backpacks.  Community Coordinated Child Care is providing the training information included in each backpack.  For more information call 574-1676 or visit any branch library.

Search the catalog for available backpacks.
