Reading Rocks at the Library This Summer!
Summer Reading begins May 22nd at all library locations
Also check out our Summer Reading Program for Teens!
The Library is going to rock again this summer! And every child in Louisville will want to be a part of this year’s Summer Reading Program: “Reading Rocks.” The Library will again offer programs and prizes to encourage kids to read for fun over the summer.
Every child from birth to 5th grade who reads (or has read to them) 10 books will receive some great prizes, including:
- our now-famous backpack (this year it is shaped like a guitar!)
- a family pass to ArtSparks at the Speed Museum
- a pass to the Thomas Edison House
- a pass to Squire Boone Caverns
- a Frosty™ from Wendy’s
- a ticket to a Louisville Bats game
- and a bundle of passes to University of Louisville sports events.
10-book readers will be eligible for prize drawings, too. There will be weekly prize drawings at each library location for a flashlight radio and a copy of Punk Farm on Tour by Janet Krosoczka. Then, on August 2nd, each library location will hold a Grand Prize drawing for a set of encyclopedias.
The program begins on May 22nd and ends with Finales at every library location on August 2nd.
Don’t miss our big kickoff at the Main Library on May 31st
The Summer Reading Soundcheck! Come hang out with the rock stars from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be hands-on art activities, karaoke readings, stone carving with Al and Penny Nelson and lots of outdoor fun.
