Middletown Library

Middletown Closing Update

The Middletown Library is temporarily closed while we relocate to a new site conveniently located on Shelbyville Road across from the Middletown Kroger. Work on this new building will begin soon and will include a full renovation of the existing facility. The new Middletown Library is expected to open in the summer of 2021. We hope to see you there!

The original Middletown Branch opened in Eastern High School in 1962 and was one of four Louisville Free Public Library Libraries located in Jefferson County Public Schools. This library closed in 1980, reopening on April 29, 1985, in a shared building with offices of the City of Middletown. The Library outgrew this location and in February of 1989 moved to the East Government Center.
