- African-American
- BCALA Awards - The BCALA Literary Awards recognize outstanding works of Fiction and Nonfiction by African American authors for adult audiences. Sponsored by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association, the award has been presented since 1994.
- The Coretta Scott King Award - The Black Caucus of the American Library Association Literary presents the Coretta Scott King Award which honors African American authors and illustrators for outstanding contributions to children's and young adult literature that promote understanding and appreciation of the culture and contribution of all people to the realization of the American Dream. This award has been presented since 1970.

- The Audie Awards - The Audie Awards are sponsored by the Audio Publishers Association (APA), a not-for-profit trade organization consisting of over 200 member companies including publishers, retailers, distributors, and suppliers along with other industries related to the production, promotion, and sale of audiobooks.

- James Beard Foundation Awards - The James Beard Foundation Awards recognize culinary professionals for excellence and achievement in their field. The Awards were first presented by The James Beard Foundation in 1991.
- IACP Cookbook Awards - Formerly called the Julia Child Cookbook Awards, this award annually celebrates the year's most outstanding food and beverage publications. Sponsored by the International Association of Culinary Professionals. This award has been presented in various forms since 1971.
- Entertainment
- Academy Awards Searchable Index - Search the Academy Awards nominations and winners. Oscars have been awarded since 1927.
- Emmy Awards Searchable Index - Emmys have been awarded by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences since 1949.
- Grammy Awards Winner Searchable Index - A GRAMMY is awarded by the Recording Academy's voting membership to honor excellence in the recording arts and sciences. The first Grammy was awarded in 1958. Find the index at the bottom of the page.
- General Awards
- Nobel Prize - The Nobel Website presents information about all Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace since 1901 and the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel since 1969.
- Horror
- Bram Stoker Awards - The Horror Writers Association gives the Bram Stoker Awards for Superior Achievement annually. The winners are determined by vote of the Active members of HWA.
- Local
- Grawemeyer Awards - "H. Charles Grawemeyer, industrialist, entrepreneur, astute investor and philanthropist, created the lucrative Grawemeyer Awards at the University of Louisville in 1984. The awards are for education, "improving world order", music composition, psychology and religion.
- Literary
- The Pulitzer Prizes - This site includes detailed information on the previous years winners, as well as an archive back to the first award in 1917.
- PEN/Faulkner Awards - Named for William Faulkner, who used his Nobel Prize funds to create an award for young writers, and affiliated with PEN (Poets, Playwrights, Editors, Essayists and Novelists), the international writers' organization, the PEN/Faulkner Award was founded by writers in 1980 to honor their peers, and is now the largest juried award for fiction in the United States.
- Costa Book Awards - "The Costa Book Awards were originally established in 1971 by Whitbread Plc. Costa, the UK's fastest-growing coffee shop chain, announced its takeover of the sponsorship of the UK's most prestigious book prize in 2006, the year both Costa and the Book Awards celebrated their 35th anniversary."
- National Book Awards - Awards are given to recognize achievements in four genres: Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Young People's Literature. The award has been given since 1950.
- Indie Book Awards - Members of the American Booksellers Association nominate the winners of these "Indiebound" books.
- Booker Prize - The Booker Prize, aims to reward the best novel of the year written by a citizen of the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland. The award was established in 1969.
- Mystery
- Agatha Awards - Malice Domestic presents the Agatha Awards are named for Agatha Christie and voted by the convention attendees. They are presented for the Best Novel, First Mystery Novel, Short Story, and Nonfiction work in the genre. They were first awarded in 1988.
- Edgar Awards - The Edgar Allan Poe awards (the "Edgars") are named after MWA's patron saint, Edgar Allan Poe, and are awarded to authors of distinguished work in various categories of the genre. Awarded by the Mystery Writers of America since 1956.
- Romance
- Romance Writers Association of America - The RWA has several awards.
- Science Fiction & Fantasy
- Hugo Awards - Presented by the World Science Fiction Society since 1953.
- Nebula Award - These awards are voted on and presented by members of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. They have been presented since 1965.
- Phillip K. Dick Award - A panel vote for best original science fiction paperback. Sponsored by the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society, these have been presented since 1983.

- Spur Awards - The Western Writers of America. established the Spur Awards in 1953 for distinguished writing about the American west.
