Lowe brings more than 16 years of library and archive experience to the job. “In my time as Mayor I've made investing in our libraries a top priority, and we’re building, rebuilding, and improving libraries across our city," said Mayor Greenberg. "We're on the right track, and we are so excited to have Heather join the LFPL team to help us keep this great work going.” For the last 11 years, Lowe has served in a variety of leadership roles at the Dallas Public Library, including most recently as their interim director. She holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as a Masters in Fine Art from Cranbrook Academy of Art. "I'm honored to join a community that values its library and a talented library team so passionate about serving the community. Together, we will strengthen Louisville Free Public Library's legacy of providing access, learning, and connection for every Louisvillian," said Lowe. Just this year, Mayor Greenberg joined LFPL to celebrate the re-opening of the Parkland Library after nearly 40 years of closure and LFPL's summer reading program saw its highest completion numbers in nearly a decade. LFPL also received $1 million in matching funds from the city budget for additional books and materials at libraries and launched its new mobile library, which will deliver books and other materials to adults across Louisville. Lowe will begin work at LFPL on November 10, replacing Interim Executive Director Barbara Sexton Smith.
