New Documentary Film Series: Louisville, Look What We Have Done! Wednesdays, Sept. 10-24, 6:30 p.m. • Main Library This new, three-week documentary series led by award-winning filmmaker Morgan C. Atkinson, explores the history of Louisville through the lens of three of Atkinson's films: Falls City, Metro (Part One), and Statues. The producer of more than 20 documentaries about Louisville and Kentucky, Atkinson's films seek to answer: Who are we? How did we get to be this way? What did we get right, and, sometimes, what did we mess up? His approach is part serious examination, part humor, and always an attempt to get us to agree on one thing—we’re all in this together. Learn more and register for this free series at LFPL.org/Documentary, or by calling (502) 574-1623. From nationally bestselling author and journalist Beth Macy (Dopesick), comes a powerful new memoir that examines the eroding of America's social fabric through the lens of her own family and the changes that have befallen her beloved small Ohio hometown. ____________________________________ MEGAN GREENWELL OCTOBER 23 6:30pm MAIN LIBRARY Bestselling author Megan Greenwell's latest book, Bad Company: Private Equity and the Death of the American Dream, is a timely account of the private equity industry told through the stories of four American workers whose lives and communities were upended by the ruinous effects of private equity takeovers. BON AIR Mondays at 7 PM SHIVELY Thursdays at 10:30 AM Save it Forward Can you truly measure the value of a library card? Every time you check out books, movies, or audiobooks from the Louisville Free Public Library, your receipt shows you something powerful: how much you’ve kept in your pocket by borrowing instead of buying. For many patrons, that number adds up to hundreds, even thousands of dollars a year. They also reflect the value of unfettered access to knowledge, discovery, and the joy of connection and community. That’s the true value of a library card. It’s a reminder that when our community invests in the Library, the return is incredible. Library services are free to use, but they still have a cost. This fall, the Library Foundation is inviting you to Save It Forward in two simple ways: 1. Make a Donation on September 18 for Give for Good Louisville. Our community’s day of giving is a chance to support the Library Foundation and help fund the books, programs, and services you love. Your receipt shows what you saved. Give for Good is your chance to save it forward. 2. Tell a friend what you’ve saved. Challenge them to get their library card and join you. Got a friend who hasn’t been to the Library in a while? Show them your receipt, tell them about your favorite checkout, and invite them to sign up for a card. Then, see who saves the most by the end of the month! Libraries save you money — and they’re powered by community support. This fall, Save It Forward. To learn more and help support your Louisville Free Public Library, visit LFPLFoundation.org.
