About the Louisville Free Public Library

The Louisville Free Public Library is the largest library system in Kentucky, serving nearly three million visitors at 17 branch locations each year. At LFPL, we believe that free access to books, ideas, resources, and information is vital for the education, employment, enjoyment, and self-government of our citizens. LFPL works tirelessly to turn the library’s gaze outward, engaging the community in new and exciting ways with programs like the “Authors at the Library” series – featuring more than 75 New York Times bestselling authors – and the hugely popular How-To Festival.

Thanks to significant capital investment over the last decade, LFPL has opened five new, state-of-the-art libraries, including three 40,000-square-foot regional libraries. These modern, award-winning facilities have increased services for more than 500,000 residents, and boast LFPL firsts, like the COLLIDER Artist-In-Residence Program, maker labs, a recording studio, and demonstration kitchen.
