OFFICIAL RULES

By submitting artwork to the Ripple Effects: Exploring Water in Louisville Photo Contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by the official rules for participation. Any violation of these rules may, at the organizer’s discretion, result in disqualification. All decisions of the judges regarding this program are final and binding in all respects.
  1. ELIGIBILITY. Open to all K-12 students living in the Louisville metropolitan area.
  2. GRADE DIVISIONS. Students may enter in the appropriate division for their grade (Primary: Kindergarten- 2; Intermediate: Grades 3-5; Middle School: Grades 6-8; High School: Grades 9-12)
  3. HOW TO ENTER. Participants must complete the online entry form and upload a digital file (up to 10MB) at www.LFPL.org/PhotoContest. Deadline for submission of all artwork is 11:59 p.m., on August 3rd, 2024. If students need digital access, the library can help. View locations and hours of operation, or call (502) 574-1611.
  4. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. Only new pieces of artwork inspired by the current theme may be submitted. Each entry must be the original work of one student only. An adult may not alter the creative integrity of a student’s work. Because the program is designed to encourage and recognize each student’s individual creativity, help from an adult or collaboration with other students is not allowed. Other individuals may appear in a student’s work, but the work itself must be the creative product of one student only. Only one student may be recognized as the award recipient for each entry.
  5. FINALIST SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION. Each entry will be judged primarily on how well the student uses his or her artistic vision to portray the theme, originality, and creativity. The organizers make no restrictions on content or subject matter in artwork. A panel of judges will select finalists for exhibition and provide awards. Under no conditions may parents or students contact judges to dispute the status/score of any entry.
  6. OWNERSHIP AND LICENSE. Ownership in any submission shall remain the property of the entrant, but entry into this program constitutes entrant’s irrevocable permission and consent that organizers may display, copy, reproduce, enhance, print, sublicense, publish, distribute, and create derivative works for educational purposes and the promoting of this competition. The organizers are not responsible for lost or damaged entries. Submission of an entry into Ripple Effects: Exploring Water in Louisville Photo Contest constitutes acceptance of all rules and conditions
  7. Accepted forms of Photography include: A single photo, panoramic, photomontage (one print of multiple original photos), a multiple exposure, negative sandwich, or photogram. Black-and-white and color images are accepted.

All participants must follow the Official Rules.
