In the second year of this event series, the Louisville Free Public Library, in partnership with Kentucky Refugee Ministries, will celebrate the Congolese American community, exploring Congolese history, music and cuisine.

In this program we’ll learn about Congolese cooking traditions and discover how to make two staple Congolese dishes with Mado Malumba, owner of Kwetu African Cuisine. There will be a vegetarian friendly option.

The Music of the Democratic Republic of Congo

Join us for a live performance showcasing the music of Congolese and Burundian ensemble, United Band. Featuring a unique, cross-cultural style, United Band blends characteristics of African and Caribbean music through their original interpretations of traditional Congolese and Burundian songs.
