LFPL offers a variety of test preparation to students of all ages both online and in-person. In addition, you can find materials for a variety of tests including ACT, SAT, TOEFL iBT, GED, AP and Nursing exams.
- College Board: Information about the SAT and the PSAT. Find sample questions, test taking advice, or sign up for advanced placement (AP) tests.
- ACT: Learn about the ACT, registration, and test taking tips.
- ACT Programs at the Library: find ACT Basics and ACT Practice Tests at LFPL branches.
- LearningExpressLibrary.com: (you'll need your LFPL library card to access this site from home) – an extensive collection of practice tests, including the SAT and ACT. Also includes high school skills improvement, military entrance, citizenship, law enforcement, and many more exams. Taking practice tests at our Learning Express Library database is easy. Getting Ready for College
- Campus Tours: Researching colleges? Give this site a try! This site contains online tours of colleges all over the U.S.
- College Board: Use the “find your match” tool to narrow your choices down for the college you want to attend.
- U.S. Department of Education: Why should you go to college? How are you going to pay for it? What will you do when you get there? These questions and many others are answered at this site.
- Kentucky Colleges and Universities: A list of all of Kentucky’s colleges and universities, including technical and liberal arts colleges.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
- FAFSA -- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid: Fill out your federal aid application online!
- Student Financial Aid: Financial aid information from the U.S. Department of Education.
- Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority Scholarships: KHEAA offers a variety of scholarships for Kentucky high school students and students already enrolled in college programs.
- KEES Program: The Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship offers Kentucky students a monetary incentive to make good grades and test well on college entrance exams.
- Bluegrass Community Foundation: Search for scholarships for Kentucky residents. A few scholarships are specific to: children with parents that are employees of Lexmark or Toyota, or students diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, or a graduate student with financial need.
- Community Foundation of Louisville: A searchable database of scholarships for Kentucky and Southern Indiana students. Check under “eligibility” for requirements of school or county.
- Community Foundation of Southern Indiana: A non-profit based in Southern Indiana that provides scholarships and grants to those residents.
- Questbridge: This non-profit organization offers scholarships to summer college school programs as well as all-expense-paid weekend visits to top-ranked colleges.
- CollegeData: Quickly search this comprehensive database of scholarships without having to register. Select state of residency, religion, ethnicity or subject of study to for specific scholarships.
- Scholarship Scams: A warning from the Federal Trade Commission on being a savvy and safe scholarship seeker.

- Need-based and Merit Scholarships are available at Kentucky colleges and universities. Visit the school's Website's scholarship page to find more information.
- Many religious organizations offer scholarships; if you are a member, check with the local and national office or leaders to see if they have any available.
- Check with any organizations in which your parents are members; they may also offer scholarships for students.
