StageOne Family Theatre presents a performance of The History of Now by Keith McGill

About this event

Body

Three students are reading a book of poetry for a school assignment when the book gets banned. One student wants to follow the rules, one wants to protest, the third doesn’t care one way or the other. They debate the significance of access to information, sparking an exploration of recent Civil Rights history through classical poetry and modern musical styles. Along the way, the three learn more about poetry, history, and how we all can make a difference – whatever our age. This 50 minute play engages the audience in a juxtaposition of classical and hip-hop poetry,  building an accessible bridge to talk about language, history, and our relationship to the moment.
