Adult Digital Art Studio: Jan Svankmajer: Animated Surrealism

Admired by other visionary filmmakers, like Guillermo del Toro and Terry Gilliam, the Czech film director Jan Śvankmajer considers himself a “surrealist.” His extraordinary stop-motion animation sequences are highly evocative and startlingly original. Along with examples of his films, we’ll look at the stop-motion technique, how it can work with today’s digital tools, and some of the particular cultural influences on his work found in his home city of Prague. Registration is required.  Email: bruce.linn@lfpl.org Ages 18+
