About this event

Body

Louisville is home to over 53,000 internationally-born residents, representing countries and communities from all over the globe. In the third year of this event series, the Louisville Free Public Library, in partnership with Kentucky Refugee Ministries, will celebrate the Congolese American community.

Dr. Patrick B. Litanga will explore the root causes of the Congolese conflict since the mid-1990s: how local, national, regional, and international actors have utilized historical grievances and how the exploitation of natural resources continues to fuel conflict in the Congo. He will touch on the eastern regions of the Congo and the populations that have borne the brunt of these armed conflicts
