Shawnee Friends of the Library invite you to join us for our annual Black History Program on Saturday, February 7, 2026.  Historic Central High School Magnet Career librarian, Adrian Layne, will be the guest speaker and facilitator for a fascinating discussion on censorship and banned books. Ms. Layne will discuss the lawsuit filed by Angie Thomas, young black American author, and others.  A video from CNN’s Velshi Banned Book Club Program will be viewed and discussed. This world class librarian will discuss the importance of fighting book bans and making all books and literature available to readers. Don’t miss this important discussion. Refreshments will be served and Door Prizes awarded to lucky participants!
