Illustrated Bookmarks
About this event
Join COLLIDER Artist-in-Residence, Daniel Vance for his illustrated bookmarks workshop. Daniel says: "One of my favorite creative outlets is illustrating bookmarks. I like the challenge of trying to fit something unique and engaging in such a small, narrow space, and I especially like the idea of hiding a little surprise in my favorite books. I rarely make bookmarks for myself though, I prefer to make them as gifts for friends and family. In fact, during the uncertain days of the pandemic, when I was feeling down and depressed, something I liked to do to cheer myself up was to hide them in my library books when I returned them, giving an anonymous gift to whatever random stranger checked them out after me. In this workshop, we’ll be using creative prompts to help us illustrate pre-cut 2x6 bookmarks, and any attendees that are interested may volunteer their bookmark to be scanned and reproduced so that copies can be given out to patrons when they check out their books!"
