Are you a recent retiree or senior looking to socialize, stay active, or engage more in your community? Join us at Middletown for a new program, celebrating your next chapter of life! A short presentation on a different topic each month will be followed with coffee and conversation. This month, Dr. Ann Glazer Niren, Curator of Jewish Collections at the Filson Historical Society, will offer a presentation on Mildred Hill, the co-composer of “Happy Birthday.” In addition to writing one of the best-known songs in the world, she also wrote art songs and chamber music, taught piano, and performed widely around Louisville in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Hill penned the first complete history of music in Louisville, and her investigations into African American music captured the attention of European composer, Antonin Dvorak.
