Mooncakes, tied to Chinese moon legends and the mythical moon goddess Chang'e, are a traditional pastry associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival also known as the Moon Festival. The tradition of making mooncakes dates back to ancient times, and the customs surrounding them during the Mid-Autumn Festival have a long history.
