Sequential Art and Visual Storytelling

Join COLLIDER Artist-in-Residence Daniel Vance for this illustration workshop designed to help potential writers think through telling stories with imagery. Starting with a brief presentation on visual storytelling featuring a selection of artists for inspiration, attendees will be supplied with pre-printed sheets with different comic panel layout options (maximum 3 panels). Using a fun prompt to generate story ideas, attendees will be challenged to communicate this story in the limited space allotted. For the prompt, attendees will be given a list of 20 creatures, 20 locations, and 20 scenarios. Using a 20 sided dice, attendees will make three rolls to determine what creature, location, and scenario to implement into their one-page mini comic. Email Liz.Magee@lfpl.org to sign up.
